Moon licht nicht




Well, this is the way it goes, I had one of those days where I felt compelled to complete this picture - something approximating this image has been swimming around in my head for the last few weeks - I spent some time working on my pencil study, and then today it splurged out of me like paint squeezed out of a tube... and it kind of happened without warning... do I love that it happens like that or not? I kind of do... but it can be excruciatingly like waiting for lightening to strike.

Seeking Inspiration

One of the main issues a creative person can have is keeping inspired. Sometimes art feels more like a thankless task than a fulfilling purpose. 'Am I doing the right thing?' being a prominent and repetitive question I ask myself. (Is it any good? being quick on it's heels) maybe it would be easier to do something else.... that pays a decent wage. But then you have a moment when the shape of the branches of a tree looks like gossamer spun basket back lit by the orb like glow of a streetlight, or the crystaline structures on a puddle make your breath catch. and you know that all you want to do is try to capture at least some small semblance of that beauty... I may never succeed but that is the quest I have set myself, in search of beauty - what better way to spend a life?

Night Jar in Flight.

More birds cometh - nothing like drawing feathers (or scales) to test the patience. fiddley things that they are, but I seem drawn to them, (boom boom).

Deer me... mwahaha, had to be done, seen stags everywhere this last year... is that a zeitgeist thing? or just that I'm noticing them... so here is my offering. The original is A2 sized, purely pencil on paper - I might tweak around with it a bit more now in photoshop (this one has been very roughly heightened) and bring in some colour or accessories. April will be upon us very soon and I want to enter a couple of exhibitions so hence this and a few other things I've been working on... I'll try and be a good girl and upload them more often.
